Lithuanian Sports University (LSU), starting its tradition from 1934, is known as a leading academic and research centre in sports science in the Baltic Sea region. The LSU offers 19 degree study programmes at all three study cycles (8 undergraduate, 9 Master’s and 2 PhD), mainly in sports science, where studies, research, and practice are closely interconnected. LSU is a unique institution providing a huge amount of sports and wellness specialists who foster citizens to be responsible for their health and healthy life. Starting with the enrolment of 100 students, the LSU has developed and expanded over years and decades into an institution with nearly 2,000 students. Among the LSU graduates, there are many distinguished scientists, coaches, famous athletes, and prominent public figures. At present, the University comprises 2 faculties (Faculty of Sport Biomedicine and Faculty of Sports Education), 4 departments (Department of Applied Biology and Rehabilitation, Department of Coaching Science, Department of Health, Physical and Social Education, and Department of Sport Management, Economics and Sociology), 2 institutes (Institute of Sport Science and Innovations and National Wellness Institute), and a Career and Competence Development Centre. As a leading academic and research centre in sports science, LSU has prepared about 14,000 specialists: physical education teachers, highly qualified coaches, physical therapy professionals, tourism and sports managers, etc.
